The Launch of the

new “Coginio 2” DVD

Welsh food consultant and TV cook, Nerys Howell, has become the new ‘hands’ of the successful ‘Coginio’ DVD cookery series.  Nerys' hands feature on the 2nd DVD, which was launched on the  7 December 2009. Many thanks to everyone who came to support us.

The event was held at the Acapela Centre, in Pentyrch, a beautifully converted chapel, which is now a recording studio and concert venue. Sian Bassett Roberts (the Producer and Voice) recorded the voice for the “Regional Welsh Recipes” DVD at Acapela, and music from a new Acapela CD, Bit 1, features on the new DVD.

Before Nerys and Sian officially launched the DVD, we served a selection of samples from the DVD and some festive drinks including Cranberry Vodka Punch and a new Welsh aperitif – Keeper's Cocktail.  Many thanks to The Welsh Whisky Company for supplying the Brecon Five Vodka and a big thank you to the Celtic Spirit Co for providing their new whinberry whisky liqueur "Keeper's Tipple" for the cocktail. Both drinks proved extremely popular!

The recipe samples included home made Glamorgan Sausages, Oatmeal biscuits with Caerphilly Cheese (from South Caernarfon Creameries) and Snowdonia Cheese's Pickle Power. A big thank you to both companies for supporting us with their products.  For those with a sweet tooth, there were samples of Caraway Cake as well.  As with the drinks, the food went down very well.

During the launch, Nerys talked about the recipes on the DVD, which draws inspiration from wonderful ingredients to create a mix a of starters, vegetarian, meat and sweet dishes – Anglesey Eggs, Glamorgan Sausages, Cardigan Bay Mackerel, Pembrokeshire Trout Parcels, Brecon Lamb Pie, Penderyn Steak, Monmouth Pudding, Caraway Cake and Oatmeal Biscuits. Sian spoke about Coginio's first year of trading. As well as receiving very positive feedback to the first DVD, a course has been set up, using the DVD, to encourage and inspire hospitality providers to use Welsh recipes and produce.

Guests at the launch included Roger Pride, Director of Marketing, Visit Wales; Paul Harris, See Wales; Gareth Hughes, Proprietor of Y Mochyn Du; Caroline Challoner Director of Cazbah PR; John Wilkinson from Capital Region Tourism and Jo Roberts from Fabulous Welsh Cakes
